Wall-E

Evan couldn't wait to see this film - and we all loved it! A grown-up theme, but overall very entertaining for the little ones. Evan does an adorable imitation of Wall-E's robotic voice.

Oops! I'm late - ZOO DAY

"Let's go!"

I think I got ALL the kids in this shot! (Taryn is behind Rachel)

My Handsome Prince

I love my baby!

Our Monkeys

So, I'm the LAST of my friends who spent the day at the zoo together to post.
Here are some pics of our day together...

Sunriver Trip!

I've always seen these slideshows on friends' blogs, so I am finally trying it. I hope it works!

Below are some photos from our Sunriver trip - sorry I couldn't get everyone in the shots (we're missing Erin, Robert, Jerry and ME).
We had a WONDERFUL time! I also had an "accident" with a slippery piece of Pyrex. Got a bunch of cuts on my forearm and fingers (a couple cuts were pretty deep). Clutz!
The highlights for ME were: Evan riding "Candy" the pony, swimming in the South Pool, and all the wonderful, home-cooked food we ate! (Think giant, ripe watermelon and sweet, delicious pineapple....)

So, without further ado....

Happy Father's Day!

Today was 100% fabulous - from start to finish!

First, Evan and I "snuck" around downstairs and made Ryan breakfast in bed. Then, we all got dressed and got BUSY - cleaning our house. It feels SO good to know that when we get back from Sunriver, our spotless house will be waiting for us!

Ryan and Evan took a break with a trip to the park (while I stayed home and cleaned more), then we all went to lunch at Red Robin. After lunch, and trying to keep Evan awake - Ryan decided to get him outside with the hose. :)

After another hour of cleaning and Ryan mowing the lawn, the boys took a shower and we headed to dinner. (YES, that is two meals out in the same day. We're terrible!!)

We are now home and exhausted - but very very happy. This was such a productive, easy-going, happy Father's Day - and now vacation is just starting!

"Beach" Day

Saturday, we took Evan to Frenchman's Bar - a place we have never been. It was beautiful! We were the only ones at the park/beach area for at least half an hour, and Ryan took Evan to get their feet wet in the Columbia River. It was even windy enough to fly a kite! We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful and versatile part of the country - being able to drive 20 minutes to the river, an hour to the mountain, and 2 hours to the beach. LOVE it!

Scary Late Evening

We were just finishing up Evan's bath when he started complaining, then crying, that his "privates" hurt. We got him out of the bath and encouraged him to go pee. OH BOY!! As soon as he started peeing, he started screaming in pain. I immediately called the Advice Nurse, and she told us to come in right away. Luckily we made it to Urgent Care just 20 minutes before they closed, and it took a "threat" of a catheter to get him to pee in a cup. Thankfully, they did a urinalysis right there on the spot - and he does not have a UTI. Could be something (soap?) just irritated him, but wow - it was scary! Poor little guy...

Luigi Car Lookout Day!

Ever seen the Disney movie Cars? Remember Luigi - the VW bug? He only spoke Italian...

Well, yesterday was the cutest thing. We were planning a long day out (Clackamas for some tax-free shopping) and had begun our drive. We hadn't gotten far when Evan noticed one of the newer model VW Beetles. "Look! A Luigi Car!" he shouts. Ryan and I immediately know what he means by this. "Yes honey, it sure is!" Then a lightbulb came on above Evan's head and he yells, "Hey! I have an idea! Let's see how many Luigi cars we can find today. We can call it a Luigi-Car-Lookout-Day!" He was so proud of his idea - and fully enjoyed pointing out all the Luigi cars he saw that day - a total of 9. I love that he made up his own little game! :)

So today, as we're heading to the grocery store, "Hey Mom, wanna play Luigi-Car-Lookout-Day again?" In fact, every time we go out for a drive, he wants to play it. Tonight, Ryan took it a step further: "Evan, for every Luigi car you see, I'll give you a penny!!"

The hunt is on....

2nd Rave - Same Place

Ok, I really am NOT a secret advertiser for this place - but I just have to rave again about CT Cafe! This time we went for breakfast. Ahh, Sunday morning breakfast - we LOVE this tradition! But we didn't want to wait 50 million hours for a greasy booth amidst chaos and other loud families. :) So, we remembered the classy interior, excellent service and fabulous food we had last time at CT Cafe (for lunch) - and decided to give breakfast a try. They were SO accommodating and friendly to Evan (who wanted pancakes instead of the potatoes that came with his meal). And the eggs benedict I chose were excellent! Again, the serving size was large enough that Ryan had to ask for a to-go box for his leftovers.
I love giving local business owners my kudos by referring them to my friends - so here ya go! Try CT Cafe (164th / McGillivray) - they are fast becoming one of our favorites!
