Oregon State Fair

Today we took Evan to the fair. He LOVED the miniature horses and all the other animals. We stopped by the "home crafts" area where he painted his own GIANT cookie, then proceeded to eat it ALL. Very fun! We ate shaved ice and met Smokey The Bear. The best part was NOT riding rides - it was true old-fashioned fair stuff - animals, exhibitors and nasty food.

First Dentist Appointment!

Evan had his first Dentist appointment today at Kaiser Cascade Park Dental Office. On the ride over, he was saying, "I don't want to see the dentist. I'm scared, Mommy." When we got into the room and he saw all the kid decorations, fish tank and prize drawer, he LOVED it! Evan said to the dentist, "You look a little familiar." (She was asian). I said, "Does she look like Heather?" Evan says, "Yes. And Karla, and Debbie." He was laughing and flirting with the hygienist - and his favorite part was getting to pick a prize at the end of the appointment. He's wearing it around his neck in the picture!

Happy 5th Anniversary

Ryan and I had a two-night escape to Lincoln City and Newport, OR. We had a GREAT and very busy time (shopping, gaming, arcade, eating out, whale-watching and tons of walking)! The weather was absolutely beautiful - we couldn't have asked for a better anniversary. Thanks to both of our Moms for watching Evan at home!

Zoo Day

We decided to brave the crowds, fight for 20 minutes finding a parking space, and spend the day at the zoo! It was only crazy outside the front gates - inside, we had a relaxed and happy time together! Our favorite section was "The Great Northwest". Evan liked petting the goats, and looking at "the biggest fish of ALL!" After a late lunch, we went to the African Tundra and hobbled back to the car with sore feet. Evan fell asleep 3 minutes after getting into his carseat. We all slept well last night!

Birthday Party Fun

Saturday, the 4th: went to a 30th birthday surprise party for Ryan's cousin. What a great time we ALL had. Evan played nonstop with his cousins Anthony, Linnet, Lindsey and Peyton. Ryan and I had some delicious "leaded" punch- mmm! The theme was hawaiian, so there was kalua pork, chicken & pineapple skewers, and some delicious chocolate-macadamia-coconut creme puffs for dessert! YUM!

Creature Feature @ the Library

Today, we met our good friends Julie, Connor and Charlotte at the library for a Creature Feature. There was a sea of moms and kids, but amidst the chaos, Evan got to touch snakes and an alligator! It kind of freaked me out watching the snake's face so close to Evan's hand - but obviously it was completely safe. Of course, Evan had to "hug" the snake, AND his friends Connor and Charlotte.
