Lean On Me

I just had to capture this. I had propped Jaren on the couch, and Evan came to sit next to him. Evan's weight kind of made Jaren lean into him, so Evan leaned back and sweetly kissed his head. They're so cute together!!

LOVE This Toy!

Thanks to Sara for posting about this website (http://www.oompatoys.com/), I have found MANY unique toys for both Evan and as gifts. This is one of our favorites. Though it states that it's for ages 3 and up, it does include mini "nails" or tacks that the kids hammer into corkboard. I wouldn't leave young children unattended doing this, but it sure is entertaining for Evan! Here is one of his creations...

You Kissed Me WHERE?!

Ok, my child never ceases to amaze me. Last night, we were all laying in bed - being silly and trying to go sleep. Evan leans over and kisses my forehead, bridge of my nose, nose, lips, chin. Straight down the middle of my face, basically. He then says, "Mommy, I just kissed your line of symmetry."

What the #%&(@?!?

I Can't Help It...

...but I totally see myself in him! It's weird - for the past 4 1/2 years, all I've heard is "He sure looks like his Daddy!" (referring to Evan). I haven't heard it with Jaren. Kinda cool how genetics works, huh?

All Smiles

Jaren has started smiling! He's been working on it for about a week now, but it's finally becoming more consistent. It's so gratifying and reassuring when your baby FINALLY starts smiling back at you!! :)

Here is a video of his coos and pre-annoyance with me...

Hefty, Hefty, Hefty!

Ok - here is Jaren at exactly one month old. But, here is an update....

He was born at 7 lbs, 4 oz. At his two-week checkup, he wasn't quite back to birthweight. He was 7 pounds even. Mommy worries about stuff like that (especially when you already have a HOSS of a 4-yr old). His pediatrician said to aim for 1/2 lb per week. So, at 2 months old, he should be about 10 pounds.

Well...... seems like little brother is following in big brother's footsteps! I had my 6-week checkup and decided to have Jaren weighed, just to see how he's doing. At not-quite-6-weeks-old (5 1/2 weeks, to be exact) - he is, ready for this??

ELEVEN POUNDS, FIVE OUNCES!! Whoo hoo!! Hoss #2 on the way. Go Jaren!
